Mentorship Program (Optional) |
When you join our EIA/Audit training (8 weeks) and a voluntary mentorship program (12 months), you will kick-start your career path development into becoming a professional Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist and/or an Environmental Health and Safety Expert. After the course, you will be involved on a part-time basis as project/field assistant in some projects undertaken by the firm and acquire practical skills through the mentorship program. The company pays for field, subsistence and transport expenses as per its internal HR & Training policy. |
Course Objectives |
To introduce trainees to key Integrated EIA and EA concepts and issues, expose them to practical tools for conducting EIA and EA, and develop linkages to the industry. |
Target Group |
Bachelor’s/ Masters Degree holders in an Environmental Sciences / studies or related courses. (as specified in the EIA and Audit course curriculum approved by NEMA) or any other person interested in becoming conversant with issues on EIA and EA even though he is already registered or does not intend to register with NEMA. |
Training Period |
8 Weeks (6th May to 28th June 2024). Deadline for Registration is 26th April 2024. Early registration is encouraged because the class is limited to a maximum of 30 students. |
Mode & Time of Training: |
Evening intensive virtual/online presentations/lectures, field case studies, assignments, group fieldwork/ discussions and examination. From Monday-Friday from 6.30PM-8.30PM and scheduled field visits during selected days. Timetable shall be sent to students after admission. |
Training Location |
Class sessions will be conducted virtually i.e at the comfort of your home/office. Fieldwork and group presentations of reports will be physical. |
Basic Requirements |
Internet connectivity, Safety boots and Helmet for your safety during field visits and an active NHIF/Medical Insurance cover before admission. AWEMAC shall provide a Branded Reflector Jacket for all participants. |
Content and requirement: |
Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audits, Social Impact Assessment, Occupational Health and Safety, Strategic Environmental Assessment, etc. NB: One must attend 95% of the classes, undertake all assignments and fieldwork, failure to which one shall pay an extra fee of Kshs. 3,750 per every class/ session missed for a make-up. |
Required Fees for EIA/Audit Training: |
Kshs. 50,000 Only (USD 350) (Can be paid once or in installments before undertaking exams). Minimum First Installment is Ksh. 15,000/= or USD 150 to book for the training).
